Winning Against Extreme Heat and Red Spider Mites Year-Round Bean Protection Strategy for High-Temperature Seasons
High-temperature environments act like an accelerator, causing red spider mite populations to reproduce rapidly and break out into infestations within a short period of time. At this stage, Etoxazole 10SC becomes a key tool for breaking the life cycle of red spider mites.
When red spider mites break out, relying only on fast-acting adulticides is often not enough to achieve thorough control, as remaining eggs and young mites can rebound again within a short period of time.
Etoxazole 10SC, as an insect growth regulator (IGR), can inhibit the synthesis of chitin, preventing young mites from moulting normally and eventually causing death. At the same time, it has strong ovicidal effects and can cause female mites that come into contact with the chemical to lay non-viable eggs. Although it cannot directly kill adult mites, it can effectively cut off the next generation and suppress population expansion from the source.
Say Goodbye to Frequent Spraying
In hot seasons, one major advantage of Etoxazole is its long residual effect. It has high lipophilicity, allowing it to firmly attach to the waxy layer of leaves. It is not easily washed away by rain or broken down by ultraviolet light, forming a long-lasting protective shield of 21 to 35 days.
Compared with ordinary miticides that may need to be sprayed every 5 days under high temperatures, Etoxazole can extend the spraying interval to 3 to 4 weeks. This greatly reduces field management frequency, saves labour and pesticide costs, and reduces the burden caused by frequent spraying on bean plants under hot conditions.
High-Temperature Response Strategy
To maximise the control effect of Etoxazole, the following integrated management strategies are recommended:
Use translaminar movement
When sprayed on the leaf surface, the solution can effectively penetrate to the back of the leaf and kill eggs hidden underneath.
Mix with fast-acting products
During an active red spider mite outbreak, it is recommended to avoid using a single product. It can be mixed with Advansia’s fast-acting miticide Fenpyroximate 5SC to quickly kill adult mites, while Etoxazole 10SC clears mite eggs.
Rotate products
Red spider mites can easily develop resistance, so continuous use should be avoided. Etoxazole should be rotated with miticides of other modes of action.
Through proper spraying timing and medication strategy, Etoxazole 10SC can help farmers greatly reduce labour burden during hot seasons and stabilise year-round bean harvests.
Extend Spraying Intervals
In the Lojing area, grower Mr. Hong applied Etoxazole 10SC at 0.5ml/L on the leaf surface. The treatment effectively suppressed the spread of red spider mite populations and significantly slowed down rapid reinfestation.
At Advansia, we continue to focus on practical, field-tested solutions that match the real conditions faced by Malaysian growers. Whether the need is better flower retention, stronger fruit development, or more reliable disease control, timely action and suitable crop strategies remain key to achieving more stable results in the field.
