Protecting Durian Health Racing Against Scale Insects

In recent years, as Malaysian durian brands have gained popularity in both local and overseas markets, fruit farmers have placed greater importance on durian orchard management. However, behind the high value of durians lies the hidden threat of scale insects. These pests hide between branches, leaves, and fruits, sucking tree sap and weakening the fruit tree, causing fruit quality to decline. How to control them effectively and protect the healthy growth of durian trees has become an urgent issue for farmers.

In recent years, durians have continued to be highly popular in both local and overseas markets. In particular, Malaysian varieties such as Musang King, Black Thorn, and others are in strong demand in China, with prices rising steadily and becoming the “golden fruit” for export. As planting areas expand, protecting the healthy growth of durian trees and fruit quality has become one of the most important concerns for growers.

Gradual Pest Control from the Nymph Stage

However, behind the high value, scale insects are a serious “hidden killer” in durian orchards. They often gather on leaves, branches, and fruit surfaces, sucking tree sap and causing slow fruit development, yellowing leaves, fruit drop, and even poor appearance, seriously affecting yield and quality.

Advansia’s Buprofezin 46.3SC is a suspension concentrate insecticide and belongs to an insect growth regulator (IGR). It can effectively control common durian pests such as scale insects, mealybugs, whiteflies, and others.

Inhibits moulting hormone:
During the growth process, scale insects need to go through several moulting stages. Buprofezin 46.3SC can inhibit moulting hormone production, causing the insect body to stop developing and eventually die.

Targets larvae:
It is most effective against newly hatched scale insect nymphs. It does not directly poison adult insects, but blocks the formation of the next generation, gradually reducing the pest population.

Pair with A-Force for Upgraded Results

A durian grower from Bentong, Mr. Lee, shared: “Previously, traditional insecticides did not work well. After spraying, many small insects could still be seen. Since trying Buprofezin 46.3SC, the pest population has clearly reduced, the fruit trees are healthier, the leaves have regained their green shine, and it is very gentle on durian trees. It does not damage the fruit or cause phytotoxicity.”

Recommended dosage: 20ml mixed with 20 litres of water, sprayed once every two weeks. It can be paired with A-Force 1 for better results.
