Gradually Adjusting the Agricultural Structure
Lam added that in an environment where fertiliser costs continue to rise, demand for organic fertilisers and biological products is expected to increase. Although they cannot fully replace chemical fertilisers, they can serve as supplementary solutions.
At the same time, the company also works with vegetable farmers’ associations and fruit farmers’ associations to conduct seminars and educational promotion, helping farmers improve their understanding of precise pesticide use and resource management.
Gradually Adjusting the Agricultural Structure
In terms of crops, Lam observed that some vegetable farmers have begun reducing their planting areas, for example from 10 acres to 7 acres, while at the same time improving management precision to maintain stable production.
For major crops, the oil palm industry still has price support at present, so the short-term impact is limited. As for the durian industry, after prices fell earlier, the new round of investment has slowed down. Some farmers are choosing to develop land in phases to reduce risk.
Technical Efficiency Becomes Competitiveness
Overall, industry players believe that the current international situation is creating pressure on the agricultural supply chain, but it may also accelerate industry transformation. This includes more precise fertiliser management, increased application of biological products, and improvement in agricultural knowledge.
Lam pointed out that the future competitiveness of agriculture will depend more on efficiency and technical application, rather than simply expanding planting scale.
